Engine Controls - System/Component Tests - EEC-V: Introduction
NOTE:
System & component testing for EEC-V (Cougar 4.6L, Mustang 3.8L and Thunderbird 4.6L) is integrated into self -diagnostics procedures. See appropriate TESTS W/CODES
- EEC-V article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE section below for testing procedures.
- TESTS W/CODES - EEC-V (4.6L) (for Cougar & Thunderbird)
- TESTS W/CODES - EEC-V (3.8L) (for Mustang)
Before testing separate components or systems, perform procedures in appropriate BASIC TESTING article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE section below. Since many computer-controlled and monitored components set a trouble code if they malfunction, also perform procedures in appropriate TESTS W/CODES - EEC-V article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE section below.
- BASIC TESTING - V6
- BASIC TESTING - V8
- TESTS W/CODES - EEC-V (4.6L) (for Cougar & Thunderbird)
- TESTS W/CODES - EEC-V (3.8L) (for Mustang)
NOTE:
Testing individual components does not isolate shorts or opens. Perform all voltage tests with a Digital Volt-Ohmmeter (DVOM) with a minimum 10-megohm input impedance, unless stated otherwise in test procedure. Use ohmmeter to isolate wiring harness shorts or opens. codes received during QUICK TEST.
