Pinpoint Test B - Doors Do Not Lock Or Unlock Using Remote Transmitter

  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Black control module connector No. 2 and power door lock relay connector located at top of right side kick panel. Using ohmmeter, measure resistance of Green/Black wire between control module connector and relay connector. See Figure & 4. Measure resistance of Green/Black wire between control module connector and ground. Resistance should be less than 5 ohms between connectors, and more than 10,000 ohms between connector and ground. If resistance is correct, go to next step. If resistance is not correct, repair Green/Black wire(s).

  2. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Reconnect Black control module connector. Leave power door lock relay disconnected. Depress LOCK button on remote transmitter. Using voltmeter, measure voltage of Green/Black wire at relay connector when LOCK button is depressed. Measure voltage of Green/Black wire when UNLOCK button is depressed. When LOCK or UNLOCK button is depressed, voltage should jump to 10 volts and then return to 1 volt. If voltage range is correct, transmitter and processor are okay. Refer to TROUBLE SHOOTING chart, if necessary. If voltages are not okay, go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect and reconnect vehicle battery to reset system. Program transmitter. See REMOTE TRANSMITTER  under PROGRAMMING. Repeat step 2). If voltage now varies from 10 volts to 1 volt, replace transmitter. If voltage does not vary, replace keyless entry control module.
