Short Circuit-To-Ground Check

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect connector at ABS control unit. On Escort and Tracer, ABS control unit is located underneath passenger's seat. On Probe, ABS control unit is located behind left cowl side trim panel. Set DVOM on 200-k/ohm scale.
  2. Measure and record resistance between ground and each of following ABS control unit connector wire terminals. See PINPOINT TEST WSS-2 CIRCUIT IDENTIFICATION  table.
  3. If all resistances are more than 10 k/ohms, go to PINPOINT TEST WSS-3  . If resistances are NOT more than 10 k/ohms, repair short to ground in suspect wire(s) between ABS control unit and wheel speed sensor(s). Go to PINPOINT TEST WSS-3  .
