Pinpoint Test TP - Throttle Position Sensor
NOTE:
Enter this test only when a Code 12 is displayed during QUICK TESTS procedure or when directed here from another PINPOINT TEST.
TP CIRCUIT PIN IDENTIFICATION

1) Turn ignition off. Install BOB. Reconnect PCM. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage at BOB test pin 47 while opening throttle. Compare voltage to specification in TP SENSOR OUTPUT VOLTAGE table. If output voltage is not within specification, go to next step.

2) Turn ignition off. Unplug TP sensor connector at throttle body. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage on VREF wire at TP harness connector. If voltage is between 4.5-5.5 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not 4.5-5.5 as specified, go to PINPOINT TEST VREF.
3) Turn ignition off. Install BOB, leaving PCM disconnected. Inspect TP wire for continuity or shorts to ground. If wire is okay, replace TP sensor. Repair wire as necessary.
