Single Power Window Inoperative

  1. Determine Inoperative Window

Turn ignition on. Operate all window switches in all positions. If right front window fails to operate, ensure window lock-out switch is not activated (if equipped) and go to step 6). If any other window switch fails to operate, go to next step.
  2. Check Master Switch

Test master switch. See MASTER SWITCH  under COMPONENT TESTING. If master switch does not operate as specified, replace master switch. If master switch is okay, go to next step.
  3. Motor Circuit Check

Gain access to window motor connector of inoperative window. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and inoperative motor connector. Operate master switch for inoperative window up and down. If battery voltage does not exist, go to next step. If battery voltage exists, go to step 5).
  4. Circuit Resistance Check

Disconnect master window switch connector. Measure resistance of suspect circuit between harness connector and master switch connector. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open circuit and retest system.
  5. Power Window Motor Check

Connect jumper wire between battery voltage and inoperative power window motor connector. Connect another jumper wire between ground and inoperative power window motor connector. Reverse polarity of leads. If power window motor operates in both directions, power window motor is okay. Retest system. If power window motor does not operate in both directions, replace power window motor. Retest system.
  6. Right Door Window Check

Remove right door window switch. Check for battery voltage at right door window switch connector White/Yellow wire with left door right window switch in DOWN position. Check for battery voltage at right door window switch connector Tan/Light Blue wire with left door right window switch in UP position. Battery voltage should exist in both checks. If battery voltage exists, go to step 10). If battery voltage does not exist on convertible models, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist on sedan models, go to step 8).
  7. Power Window Lockout Switch (Convertibles)

Remove master switch. Ensure lock-out switch is not activated. Check for battery voltage at master switch pin No. 16. See Figure . If battery voltage does not exist, replace master switch. If battery voltage exists, go to next step.
  8. Right Window Down Circuit Check

Remove master switch. Check for battery voltage at master switch pin No. 15 (sedans) or pin No. 7 (convertibles) with master switch right window switch in DOWN position. See Figure or Figure . If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, replace master switch.
  9. Right Window Up Circuit Check

Remove master switch. Check for battery voltage at master switch pin No. 8 (sedans) or pin No. 9 (convertibles) with master switch right window switch in UP position. See Figure or Figure . If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, replace master switch.
  10. Single Switch Power Supply Check

Remove single switch from right door. Check for battery voltage at right window switch pin No. 8. See Fig 1 . If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in Pink or Light Blue/Black wire and retest system.
  11. Right Window Switch Down Circuit Check

Check for battery voltage at right window switch pin No. 10 with right window switch in DOWN position. See Fig 1 . If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, replace right window switch and retest system.
  12. Right Window Switch Up Circuit Check

Check for battery voltage at right window switch pin No. 6 with right window switch in UP position. See Fig 1 . If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, replace right window switch and retest system.
  13. Right Window Motor Down Circuit Check

Disconnect right window motor connector from right window switch. Check Yellow/Red wire for voltage at right window motor connector with right window switch in DOWN position. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in Yellow/Red wire between right window motor and right window switch.
  14. Right Window Motor Up Circuit Check

Check Red/Yellow wire for voltage at right window motor connector with right window switch in UP position. If battery voltage exists, go to step 5). If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in Red/Yellow wire between right window motor and right window switch. Retest system.
