Pinpoint Test A - Door Lock System Does Not Operate
NOTE:
In following pinpoint tests, illustrations are courtesy of Ford Motor Co.
- Turn ignition off. Inspect ROOM and METER fuses at interior fuse box. If fuses are okay, go to step 4). If either fuse is defective, go to next step.
- Install new fuses. Turn ignition on. If fuses fail again, go to next step. If fuses are okay, go to step 4).
- Turn ignition off. Unplug REM connector and interior fuse panel connector C2. See Fig 1 . Measure resistance between Blue/Red wire at interior fuse panel C2 connector and ground. Measure resistance between Black/Yellow wire at interior fuse panel C2 connector and ground. If resistances are less than 5 ohms, repair wire(s) in question. If resistances are greater than 5 ohms, replace fuse(s), then go to next step.
- Reconnect interior fuse panel wiring. Program transmitter. See REMOTE TRANSMITTER under PROGRAMMING. If system responds correctly, refer to REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM TROUBLE SHOOTING chart in Fig. Figure , if necessary. If system does not respond correctly, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Replace transmitter batteries. Turn ignition on. Program transmitter. See REMOTE TRANSMITTER under PROGRAMMING. If system responds correctly, transmitter is okay. Refer to REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM TROUBLE SHOOTING chart in Fig. Figure , if necessary. If system does not respond correctly, go to next step.
- Replace transmitter with a known working unit. Program transmitter. See REMOTE TRANSMITTER under PROGRAMMING. Turn ignition on. If system responds correctly, replace original transmitter. If system does not respond correctly, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Unplug REM connector. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage at Blue/Red and Black/Yellow wires at connector. If voltages are more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltages are less than 10 volts, repair wire(s) in question.
- Leave ignition off and REM connector disconnected. Measure resistance of Black wire between connector and ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, temporarily substitute known good REM, then retest system. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair Black wire.
