WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1997 Lincoln Mark VIII. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Connect scan tester to the 16-pin Data Link Connector (DLC). See Figure . The DLC is a located below driver's side of instrument panel, to the right of steering column. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using scan tester, perform DIAGNOSTIC DATA LINK test.
  2. If scan tester displays CKT 914 (+) = SYSTEM PASSED, CKT 915 (-) = SYSTEM PASSED and CKT 70 = SYSTEM PASSED, module communications network and ISO 9141 communication link is operating properly at this time. If scan tester does not display CKT 914 (+) = SYSTEM PASSED, CKT 915 (-) = SYSTEM PASSED and CKT 70 = SYSTEM PASSED, go to next step.
  3. If scan tester displays CKT 914 (+) = 000007FF or CKT 915(-) = 000007FF, perform TEST B  . If scan tester does not display CKT 914 (+) = 000007FF or CKT 915 (-) = 000007FF, go to next step.
  4. If scan tester displays NO RESPONSE/NOT EQUIPPED, NO RESPONSE ON CKT 914 (+), NO RESPONSE ON CKT 915 (-) or NO RESPONSE ON CKT 70, go to next step. If scan tester does not display NO RESPONSE/NOT EQUIPPED, NO RESPONSE ON CKT 914 (+), NO RESPONSE ON CKT 915 (-) or NO RESPONSE ON CKT 70, repeat DIAGNOSTIC DATA LINK test to ensure condition was not caused by an procedure error.
  5. Perform tests on modules in the sequence listed. See TEST SEQUENCE TABLE. Ensure tests are be performed on the modules in the sequence listed.
NOTE: Tests must be performed in the sequence listed. DO NOT perform any tests unless instructed too. Verify what modules are used on the vehicle before proceeding.
