System Testing: Notes

NOTE: Before beginning system testing, perform TROUBLE SHOOTING .

NOTE: All Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) tests are for use with New Generation Star (NGS) scan tool. If a generic scan tool is used, ensure scan tool is certified OBD-II standard.

NOTE: A New Generation Star (NGS) tester is required to test the power door lock system.

Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to data link connector. Perform DATALINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST. See MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK article. If NGS tester responds with CKT 914 or CKT 915=ALL MODULES NO RESPONSE/NOT EQUIPPED, diagnose network concern. See MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK article. If NGS tester responds with, NO RESPONSE/NOT EQUIPPED for Generic Electronic Module (GEM), go to TEST A: NO COMMUNICATION WITH GENERIC ELECTRONIC MODULE (GEM) under DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. If NGS tester responds with, NO RESPONSE/NOT EQUIPPED for Remote Anti-Theft Personality (RAP) module, go to TEST B : NO COMMUNICATION WITH REMOTE ANTI-THEFT PERSONALITY (RAP) MODULE under DIAGNOSTIC TESTING.

If NGS tester responds with SYSTEM PASSED for all modules, retrieve DTCs for all modules. If any DTCs exist, perform appropriate test under DIAGNOSTIC TESTING . See appropriate DTC DEFINITIONS table. If no DTCs were retrieved, repair system by symptom. See SYMPTOM CHART and perform appropriate test under DIAGNOSTIC TESTING .
