Test C

  1. Measure voltage between generator terminal "A" screw and ground. See Figure . If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, repair circuit (Black wire) between battery and generator. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Check system operation.
  2. Disconnect generator 3-pin connector. Observe charge warning indicator with ignition in RUN and OFF positions. If indicator is illuminated in either position, go to next step. If indicator is not illuminated in either position, go to TEST A  .
  3. Disconnect instrument cluster 16-pin connector. Measure resistance between generator 3-pin connector terminal (Green/Black wire) and ground. If resistance is greater than 10 k/ohms, replace instrument cluster. See appropriate INSTRUMENT PANEL article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, repair short in Green/Black wire and check system operation. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
