System Tests: Notes
CAUTION:
When battery is disconnected or modules are replaced, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION before disconnecting battery.
NOTE:
Before beginning system tests, perform TROUBLE SHOOTING .
NOTE:
After repairs are complete, ensure all components are properly installed and all harness connectors are connected properly. Repeat data link diagnostic test. See DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS in MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK - ESCORT & TRACER article.
Verify the customer complaint by operating appropriate window. Visually inspect for obvious sign of mechanical and electrical damage. If no visual damage is evident, perform appropriate system test. See SYSTEM TEST INDEX table. A digital volt-ohmmeter is required to test the power mirror system. See WIRING DIAGRAMS for terminal numbers.
