Test H: Alternative Fuel Control Module Does Not Respond To Scan Tool
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect Alternative Fuel Control Module (AFCM) harness connector C4001. Inspect AFCM harness connector and terminals for damage. Repair as necessary and reconnect. Connect NGS tester to DLC. Turn ignition on. Perform data link diagnostic test. See DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If result is AFCM: NO RESPONSE ON CKT 914 (BUS +), go to next step. If result is AFCM: NO RESPONSE ON CKT 915 (BUS -), go to step 5 .
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Connect NGS tester to DLC, if not already connected. Disconnect AFCM harness connector C4001. Measure resistance between terminal No. 6 (Tan/Orange wire) at AFCM harness connector and terminal No. 2 (Gray/Violet wire) at DLC. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to step 5 . If resistance is not less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Measure resistance between terminal No. 1 (Tan/Orange wire) at in-line harness connector C4112 and terminal No. 2 (Gray wire without ABS; Gray/Violet wire with ABS) at DLC. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair open in Tan/Orange wire between in-line harness connector C4112 and AFCM. Check system for normal operation. If resistance is not less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Disconnect in-line harness connector C3001. Measure resistance between terminal No. 2 (Gray wire without ABS; Gray/Violet wire with ABS) at DLC and terminal No. 4 (Gray wire) at in-line harness connector C3001. See Figure and Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair open in Tan/Orange wire between in-line harness connector C4112 and in-line harness connector C3001. If resistance is not less than 5 ohms, repair open in Gray wire (without ABS) or Gray/Violet wire (with ABS) between in-line harness connector C3001 and DLC. Check system for normal operation.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Connect NGS tester to DLC, if not already connected. Disconnect AFCM harness connector C4001. Measure resistance between terminal No. 5 (Pink/Light Blue wire) at AFCM harness connector and terminal No. 10 (Blue wire without ABS; Blue/White wire with ABS) at DLC. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace AFCM. Check system for normal operation. If resistance is not less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Disconnect in-line harness connector C4112. Measure resistance between terminal No. 2 (Pink/Light Blue wire) at male side of in-line harness connector C4112 and terminal No. 10 (Blue wire without ABS; Blue/White wire with ABS) at DLC. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair open in Pink/Light Blue wire between male side of in-line harness connector C4112 and AFCM. Check system for normal operation. If resistance is not less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Disconnect in-line harness connector C3001. Measure resistance between terminal No. 12 (Blue wire) at in-line harness connector C3001 and terminal No. 10 (Blue wire without ABS; Blue/White wire with ABS) at DLC. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair open in Pink/Light Blue wire between female side of in-line harness connector C4112 and male side of in-line harness connector C3001. If resistance is not less than 5 ohms, repair open in (Blue wire without ABS; Blue/White wire with ABS) between DLC and female side of in-line harness connector C3001. Check system for normal operation.
