Test F: No Module/Network Communication

  1. Turn ignition off. Inspect DLC for physical damage, bent terminals or corrosion. Inspect scan tool connector for loose, damaged or corroded terminals. Repair as necessary and retest system for normal operation. If DLC and scan tool are okay, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition off. Remove and inspect OBD-II fuse (10-amp) from engine compartment fuse block. If fuse is okay, reinstall fuse, and then go to next step. If fuse is open, replace fuse and retest system for normal operation. Recheck fuse. If fuse is open once more, repair short to ground in circuit No. 180 (Green wire) between engine compartment fuse block and DLC. Retest system for normal operation.
  3. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 16 (Green wire) at DLC. See Figure . If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair circuit No. 180 (Green wire) between engine compartment fuse block and DLC. Retest system for normal operation.
  4. Measure resistance between ground and terminals No. 4 (Black wire) and No. 5 (Blue/Orange wire) at DLC. If both resistance measurements are less than 5 ohms, repair or replace scan tool. Retest system for normal operation. If either resistance measurement is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Black wire or Blue/Orange wire between ground and DLC. Retest system for normal operation.
