Hybrid Electronic Instrument Cluster (HEC) Programming

  1. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Connect NGS tester to Data Link Connector (DLC), located under instrument panel next to steering column. Using NGS tester, retrieve and record continuous DTCs. Clear continuous DTCs and perform instrument cluster self-test. If DTC B2139 is retrieved, go to next step. If DTC B2139 is not retrieved, system is okay at this time.
  2. Perform security access for instrument cluster. See KEY PROGRAMMING - SECURITY ACCESS PROCEDURE under PASSIVE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM (PATS) . Using NGS tester, select PARAMETER RESET command for instrument cluster. Using NGS tester with diagnostic card for active command keep alive memory reset, select PARAMETER RESET command for PCM. Turn ignition switch to RUN position for 30 seconds. Using NGS tester, clear continuous DTCs. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Using NGS tester, perform instrument cluster self-test. If DTC B2139 is not retrieved, system is okay at this time. If DTC B2139 is retrieved, verify PCM calibration is correct for vehicle. If calibration is okay, go to next step.
  3. Repeat step 2). If DTC B2139 is still exists, replace instrument cluster. If DTC B2139 does not exist, system is okay at this time. If any other DTCs are retrieved, perform appropriate test. See appropriate MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT.
