Engine Code - Position 4

The 8th number in VIN is the engine displacement and number of cylinders code. Description is as follows:

R = 4.6L (DOHC), V8 EFI (Mach 1)
S = 3.0L (DOHC), V6 EFI.
U = 3.0L (OHV), V6 EFI.
V = 4.6L (DOHC), V8 EFI.
W = 4.6L (SOHC), V8 (Romeo) EFI, Gasoline.
X = 4.6L (SOHC), V8 EFI.
Y = 4.6L (DOHC), V8 S/C EFI (Cobra).
Z = 2.3L (DOHC), In-Line 4-Cylinder EFI.
2 = 3.0L (OHV), V6 EFI, Flex-Fuel.
3 = 2.0L (DOHC), In-Line 4-Cylinder EFI (Zetec).
4 = 3.8L (OHV), V6 EFI.
5 = 2.0L (DOHC), In-Line 4-Cylinder EFI (Duratec).
9 = 4.6L (SOHC), V8 EFI, Natural Gas Vehicle (NGV).
