System Tests: Notes
CAUTION:
When battery is disconnected or modules replaced, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. See appropriate COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION before disconnecting battery.
CAUTION:
Before replacing any control module, ensure all module ground and power circuits are functioning properly. For circuit identification, see WIRING DIAGRAMS .
CAUTION:
Careful when probing the fuse junction panel, power distribution box or any connectors. Damage will result to connector receptacle if probe or terminal used is too large.
CAUTION:
Electronic modules are sensitive to static electrical charges. If exposed to these charges, damage may result.
NOTE:
Test procedures are written specifically for New Generation Star (NGS) tester. Generic scan tools may not have the capability of performing all the same functions. Refer to scan tool manufacturer's instructions.
NOTE:
If continuous DTCs are recorded and symptom is not present when performing system tests, an intermittent concern may be the cause. Always check for loose connections and corroded terminals.
