Engine Code - Position 4

The 8th number in VIN is the engine displacement and number of cylinders code. Description is as follows:

• A = 3.9L (DOHC), V8 EFI.
• L = 2.5L, EFI (DOHC), V6.
• P = 2.0L, EFI (SOHC) S.P.I., In-Line 4-Cylinder.
• R = 4.6L (DOHC), V8 EFI (Mach 1)
• S = 3.0L (DOHC), V6 EFI.
• U = 3.0L (OHV), V6 EFI.
• V = 4.6L (DOHC), V8 EFI.
• W = 4.6L (SOHC), V8 (Romeo) EFI, Gasoline.
• X = 4.6L (SOHC), V8 EFI.
• Y = 4.6L (DOHC), V8 S/C EFI (Cobra).
• Z = 2.3L (DOHC), In-Line 4-Cylinder EFI.
• 2 = 3.0L (OHV), V6 EFI, Flex-Fuel.
• 3 = 2.0L (DOHC), In-Line 4-Cylinder EFI (Zetec).
• 4 = 3.8L (OHV), V6 EFI.
• 5 = 2.0L (DOHC), In-Line 4-Cylinder EFI (Duratec).
