Test C: Charge Warning Indicator Malfunction

  1. Start engine and measure voltage of Yellow/White wire at generator terminal B+ (component side). If voltage is less than 13 volts or more than 15 volts, perform TEST A: CHARGING SYSTEM MALFUNCTION . If voltage is 13-15 volts, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect generator 3-pin connector. Start engine and let idle, wait 30 seconds and observe charge warning indicator. If charge warning indicator is off, inspect warning indicator bulb. Perform TEST J: CHARGE SYSTEM WARNING INDICATOR NEVER/ALWAYS ON under SYSTEM TESTS in appropriate ANALOG INSTRUMENT PANELS article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT. If charge warning indicator is not off, continue diagnosis of PCM controlled charging system.
