Lower Intake Manifold: Installation

Refer to the illustration for intake manifold sealing component locations.

Install the lower intake manifold front and rear end seals.
1. Apply a bead of silicone gasket and sealant to the intake manifold front and rear end seal mounting points as shown.
2. Install the lower intake manifold front and rear end seals.

Install the intake manifold gaskets.

NOTE: The lower intake manifold must be installed within four minutes of applying sealant.

NOTE: Make sure the bolts are installed in the correct locations.

Install the six long bolts.
Install the eight short bolts.

Tighten the lower intake manifold bolts in two stages in the sequence shown.
- Stage 1: Tighten to 5 Nm (44 lb-in).
- Stage 2: Tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).

Install the intake manifold runner control (IMRC) if required. .
Connect the water bypass tube.
1. Position the tube.
2. Install the bolts.

Connect the intake manifold runner control (IMRC) electrical connector.

Connect the upper radiator hose.

Connect the heater hose.

Connect the EGR-to-exhaust manifold tube.

Connect the EGR vacuum hose.

Install the fuel injection supply manifold. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING .
Install the upper intake manifold. For additional information, refer to UPPER INTAKE MANIFOLD .
Fill and bleed the cooling system. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING .
