Chain Cover: Disassembly
- Press tabs and remove the harness.
- Remove the thrust washers.
- Remove the No. 1 drive sprocket thrust washer.
- Remove the No. 3 chain cover thrust washer.
- Remove the bolt and the manual valve detent
- Remove the accumulator piston shafts.
- Remove the accumulator pistons.
- Remove the bi-metal element and the thermostat plate.
NOTE:
If replacement of the chain cover is necessary the main control wire harness will need to be transferred.
CAUTION:
Do not use any objects in the piston shaft bore for removal. Damage to the bore will result.
NOTE:
Tag and mark the location of the accumulator pistons.
CAUTION:
Use care not to damage the machined surface of the chain cover.
NOTE:
The use of side cutters supported by a small piece of wood will aid in the removal of the bi-metal retaining collars.
