Engine Controls - Sensor Operating Range Charts: Introduction
NOTE:
For sensor information on 6.0L or 7.3L diesel, see SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - 6.0L DIESEL or SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - 7.3L DIESEL article.
Sensor operating range information can help determine if a sensor is out of calibration. An out-of-calibration sensor may not set a trouble code, but it will cause driveability problems.
NOTE:
Unless specified otherwise, perform all voltage tests using a Digital Volt-Ohmmeter (DVOM) with minimum 10-megohm input impedance.

NOTE:
Two different types of internal temperature circuits are used by the PCM. One circuit has a pull-down resistor to SIG RTN and the other does not have a pull-down resistor. To determine if an internal PCM pull-down resistor is used, disconnect the temperature sensor and measure voltage between temperature sensor signal (ECT, IAT or EOT) at sensor harness connector and ground with the key on. If voltage is 5.0 volts, no resistor is used.
