The 2.0L engines are equipped with sequential multiport fuel injection that is supplied by a new electronic returnless fuel delivery system (ERFS). The powertrain control module (PCM) receives fuel temperature and pressure information from sensors mounted in the fuel rail. With this information, the PCM is able to maintain constant fuel pressure by varying fuel delivery module (FDM) output. This is accomplished by increasing or decreasing voltage supplied to the tank mounted FDM. The ERFS offers improved economy, lower fuel temperature, and decreased fuel vapor in the tank.
