Disassembly And Assembly Of Subassemblies: Accumulators: Disassembly

NOTE: The removal of all of the accumulator piston retainers, accumulator pistons, and accumulator piston springs from their proper bores in the transmission case is similar. The 1-2 accumulator is given as an example.
  1. Remove the accumulator piston retaining ring while pressing in the accumulator spring retainer.

  2. Remove the accumulator spring retainer.
    1. Remove the accumulator spring retainer.
    2. Remove the accumulator piston spring.

  3. WARNING: Use caution when removing accumulator pistons from the bore using compressed air to avoid personal injury.
    CAUTION: Do not remove the seal rings from the accumulator piston. If necessary, replace them as an assembly for proper transmission operation.

  4. Remove the accumulator piston from the transmission housing by applying compressed air through the appropriate fluid passage. Apply a maximum air pressure of 392 kPa (57 psi).
