Test C: No Communication With Rap Module

NOTE: Remote Anti-Theft Personality (RAP) module is located in luggage compartment, behind right trim panel. See Figure . For RAP module connectors C404 and C405 terminal identification, refer to illustrations. See Figure and Figure .
  1. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Check condition of central junction box MIRROR/RADIO fuse (5-amp) and ROOM fuse (10-amp). Central junction box is located above left side kick panel. If fuses are okay, reinstall fuses and go to step  4 . If ROOM fuse is blown, go to next step. If MIRROR/RADIO fuse is blown, go to step  3 .
  2. Ensure ignition switch is in LOCK position. Disconnect Remote Anti-Theft Personality (RAP) module 22-pin harness connector C404. Replace ROOM fuse. Check condition of replaced ROOM fuse. If fuse is okay, replace RAP module. See REMOTE ANTI-THEFT PERSONALITY MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Retest system operation. If fuse is blown, repair short to ground in Blue/Red wire between central junction box ROOM fuse and RAP module. Retest system operation.
  3. Ensure ignition switch is in LOCK position. Disconnect Remote Anti-Theft Personality (RAP) module 26-pin harness connector C405. Replace MIRROR/RADIO fuse. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Check condition of replaced MIRROR/RADIO fuse. If fuse is okay, replace RAP module. See REMOTE ANTI-THEFT PERSONALITY MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Retest system operation. If fuse is blown, repair short to ground in Blue/Black wire between central junction box and RAP module. Retest system operation.
  4. Ensure ignition switch is in LOCK position. Disconnect Remote Anti-Theft Personality (RAP) module 22-pin harness connector C404 and RAP module 26-pin harness connector C405. On all door system, check resistance between ground and RAP module 22-pin harness connector C404 terminal No. 14 (Black wire). See Figure . On driver's door system, measure resistance between ground and RAP module 26-pin harness connector C405 terminal No. 24. See Figure . On all models, if resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Black wire between ground and RAP module. Retest system operation.
  5. Measure voltage between ground and RAP module 22-pin harness connector C404 terminal No. 12 (Blue/Red wire). See Figure . If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair Blue/Red wire between central junction box and RAP module. Retest system operation.
  6. Disconnect RAP module 26-pin harness connector C405. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Measure voltage between ground and RAP module 26-pin harness connector C405 terminal No. 25 (Blue/Black wire). See Figure . If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair module communications concern. See MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK article. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair Blue/Black wire between central junction box and RAP module. Retest system operation.
