DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) LIST

DTC Component Description Condition Symptom Perform Test
P0102, P0103, P1100, P1101 MAF MAF concerns. MAF system has a malfunction which may cause a transaxle concern. See INTRODUCTION - GASOLINE article for diagnosis. Incorrect shift schedule, high/low EPC pressure. Incorrect converter engagement scheduling. Symptoms similar to a TP failure. See INTRODUCTION - GASOLINE article.
P0112 IAT IAT indicates 125°C (254°F). Voltage drop across IAT exceeds scale set for temperature 125°C (254°F). Incorrect EPC pressure. Either high or low which will result in harsh or soft shifts. See INTRODUCTION - GASOLINE article.
P0113 IAT IAT indicates -40°C (-40°F). Voltage drop across IAT exceeds scale set for temperature -40°C (-40°F). Incorrect EPC pressure. Either high or low which will result in harsh or soft shifts. See INTRODUCTION - GASOLINE article.
P0114 IAT IAT out of on-board diagnostic range. IAT temperature higher or lower than expected during KOEO and KOER. Rerun on-board diagnostic at normal operating temperature. See INTRODUCTION - GASOLINE article.
P1116 ECT ECT out of on-board diagnostic range. ECT temperature higher or lower than expected during KOEO and KOER. Rerun on-board diagnostic at normal operating temperature. See INTRODUCTION - GASOLINE article.
P0117 ECT ECT indicates 125°C (254°F). ECT temperature higher or lower than expected during KOEO and KOER. Torque converter clutch will always be off, resulting in low fuel economy. See INTRODUCTION - GASOLINE article.
P0118 ECT ECT indicates -40°C (-40°F). ECT temperature higher or lower than expected during KOEO and KOER. Torque converter clutch will always be off, resulting in low fuel economy. See INTRODUCTION - GASOLINE article.
P0122, P0123, P1120 TP TP DTCs. Powertrain control module has detected an error. This error may cause a transaxle concern. See INTRODUCTION - GASOLINE article for diagnosis. Harsh engagements, firm shift feel, abnormal shift schedule, torque converter clutch does not engage. Torque converter clutch cycling. See INTRODUCTION - GASOLINE article.
P0300-P0308, P0320, P0340, P1351-P1364 EI EI system. EI system has a malfunction which may cause a transaxle concern. Engine malfunction, no converter engagement. See INTRODUCTION - GASOLINE article.
P0712 TFT TFT sensor circuit voltage input too low and temperature input too high. Temperature sensor input indicates a short to ground. Torque converter clutch and stabilized shift schedule may be enabled sooner after cold start. Harsh or soft shifts. GO to PINPOINT TEST B .
P0713 TFT TFT sensor circuit voltage input too low and temperature input too high. Temperature sensor input indicates an open circuit. Torque converter clutch and stabilized shift schedule may be enabled sooner after cold start. Harsh or soft shifts. GO to PINPOINT TEST B .
P1711 TFT TFT out of on-board diagnostic range. Transaxle not at operating -4°C-116°C (25°F-240°F) temperature during on-board diagnostics. Warm or cool vehicle to normal operating temperature. GO to PINPOINT TEST B .
P0711 TFT No change in TFT sensor input. PCM has detected no TFT change at low-range or high-range during operation. May flash TCIL. GO to PINPOINT TEST B .
P1783 TFT Transaxle overtemp condition indicated 149°C (300°F). Fluid temperature exceeded 149°C (300°F). Increase in EPC pressure during overtemp only. Will display Trans Overtemp message. GO to PINPOINT TEST B .
P0715 TSS Insufficient input from Turbine Shaft Speed (TSS) Sensor. Powertrain control module detected a loss of TSS signal during operation. Incorrect TCC engagements. Increased engine RPM on engagements, harsh shifts. Will display Check Transmission message. GO to PINPOINT TEST F .
P0717 TSS Insufficient input from Turbine Shaft Speed (TSS) sensor. PCM detected a loss of TSS signal during operation. Incorrect TCC engagements. Increased engine RPM on engagements, harsh shifts. Will display Check Transmission message. GO to PINPOINT TEST F .
P0718 TSS TSS signal intermittent. PCM has detected an erratic or no TSS signal. - GO to PINPOINT TEST F .
P0720 OSS Insufficient input from OSS sensor. PCM detected a loss of OSS signal during operation. Harsh shifts, and abnormal shift schedule. (MIL on) Will display Check Transmission message. GO to PINPOINT TEST G .
P0721 OSS Output shaft speed sensor signal noisy. PCM has detected an erratic OSS signal. Harsh shifts, and abnormal shift schedule. GO to PINPOINT TEST G .
P0722 OSS Output shaft speed sensor signal intermittent. PCM has detected an erratic or no OSS signal. Will display Check Transmission message. GO to PINPOINT TEST G .
P1714 SSA SSA failure. Mechanical failure of the solenoid detected. Incorrect gear selection depending on condition, mode and manual lever position. See SOLENOID OPERATION CHART . GO to PINPOINT TEST H .
P0750, P0753 (1) SSA SSA solenoid circuit failure. Solenoid 1 circuit failed to provide voltage drop across solenoid. Circuit open or shorted or PCM drive failure during on-board diagnostic. Incorrect gear selection depending on condition mode and manual lever position. See SOLENOID OPERATION table. Will display Check Transmission message. GO to PINPOINT TEST A .
P0755, P0758 (1) SSB SSB solenoid circuit failure. Solenoid 2 circuit fails to provide voltage drop across solenoid. Circuit open or shorted or PCM drive failure during on-board diagnostics. Incorrect gear selection depending on condition mode and manual lever position. See SOLENOID OPERATION CHART . Will display Check Transmission message. GO to PINPOINT TEST A .
P1715 SSB SSB failure. Mechanical failure of the solenoid detected. Incorrect gear selection depending on condition, mode and manual lever position. See SOLENOID OPERATION CHART . GO to PINPOINT TEST H .
P1716 SSC SSC failure. Mechanical failure of the solenoid detected. Incorrect gear selection depending on condition, mode and manual lever position. See SOLENOID OPERATION CHART . GO to PINPOINT TEST H .
P0760, P0763 (1) SSC SSC solenoid circuit failure. Solenoid 3 circuit fails to provide voltage drop across solenoid. Circuit open or shorted or PCM drive circuit failure during on-board diagnostic. Incorrect gear selection depending on condition mode and manual lever position. See SOLENOID OPERATION CHART . Will display Check Transmission message. GO to PINPOINT TEST A .
P0731 SSA, SSB or internal parts 1st gear failure. Incorrect gear ratio while commanding 1st gear. Incorrect gear selection depending on condition mode and manual lever position: see SOLENOID OPERATION CHART . Shift errors may also be due to other internal transaxle concerns (such as stuck valves, damaged friction material) (TCIL flashing, California only). GO to PINPOINT TEST A .
P0732 SSA, SSB or internal parts 2nd gear failure. Incorrect gear ratio while commanding 2nd gear. Incorrect gear selection depending on condition mode and manual lever position: see SOLENOID OPERATION CHART . Shift errors may also be due to other internal transaxle concerns (such as stuck valves, damaged friction material) (TCIL flashing, California only). GO to PINPOINT TEST A .
P0733 SSA, SSC or internal parts 3rd gear failure. Incorrect gear ratio while commanding 3rd gear. Incorrect gear selection depending on condition mode and manual lever position: see SOLENOID OPERATION CHART . Shift errors may also be due to other internal transaxle concerns (such as stuck valves, damaged friction material) (TCIL flashing, California only). GO to PINPOINT TEST A .
P0734 SSA, SSC, or internal parts 4th gear failure. Incorrect gear ratio while commanding 4th gear. Incorrect gear selection depending on condition mode and manual lever position: see SOLENOID OPERATION CHART . Shift errors may also be due to other internal transaxle concerns (such as, stuck valves, damaged friction material) (TCIL flashing, California only). GO to PINPOINT TEST A .
P1000 OBD II system OBD II Test not complete. On-board tests have not completed. - See INTRODUCTION - GASOLINE article.
P1460 A/C A/C clutch cycling pressure switch error. A/C or Defrost ON condition may result from A/C clutch being ON during on-board diagnostics. Failed ON - EPC pressure slightly low with A/C OFF. Failed OFF - EPC pressure slightly low with A/C ON. See INTRODUCTION - GASOLINE article.
P1703 BPP Brake not actuated during on-board diagnostics. BPP switch circuit failed. Brake not cycled during KOER. Brake ON/OFF circuit failure. Failed ON or not connected - torque converter clutch will not engage at less than 1/3 throttle. Failed OFF - torque converter clutch will not disengage when brake is applied. See INTRODUCTION - GASOLINE article.
P0705 Digital TR sensor Digital TR sensor circuit failure. Digital TR sensor circuits, indicating an invalid pattern in TR___D. Condition caused by a short to ground or an open in TR4, TR3A, TR2 and/or TR1 circuits. This DTC cannot be set by an incorrectly adjusted digital TR sensor. Increase in EPC pressure (harsh shifts). Defaults to (D) or D for all gear positions. In (D) position transmission is stuck in D or manual 2. GO to PINPOINT TEST D .
P0708 Digital TR sensor Digital TR sensor circuit TR3A open. Digital TR sensor circuit TR3A reading 2.6v - 5.0v (open circuit). This DTC cannot be set by an incorrectly adjusted digital TR sensor. Increase in EPC pressure. Defaults to (D) or D for all gear ranges. GO to PINPOINT TEST D .
P1702 Digital TR sensor Digital TR sensor signal intermittent, code P0705, P0708 are set. See P0705, P0708 conditions. See P0705, P0708 symptoms. GO to PINPOINT TEST D .
P1705 Digital TR sensor Digital TR sensor not in PARK or NEUTRAL during KOEO/KOER. KOEO/KOER not run in PARK or NEUTRAL; or digital TR sensor circuit failure. Rerun KOEO/KOER in PARK or NEUTRAL. GO to PINPOINT TEST D .
P1740 TCC TCC failure. Mechanical failure of the solenoid detected. Torque converter never applies. GO to PINPOINT TEST C .
P1742a TCC TCC Solenoid Failed ON. TCC Solenoid has failed ON by electrical, mechanical or hydraulic concern. Harsh shifts, may stall vehicle at low speeds. May activate MIL. GO to PINPOINT TEST C .
P1743a TCC TCC Solenoid Mechanically Failed ON. TCC solenoid has mechanically failed ON. Either mechanical or hydraulic concern. Harsh shifts, may stall vehicle at low speeds. May flash TCIL. GO to PINPOINT TEST C .
P1744, P0741 TCC Excessive slip detected. Excessive slip detected during full TCC engagement. Torque converter disengaged. EPC pressure at minimum. May activate MIL. GO to PINPOINT TEST C .
P0743 (1) TCC TCC solenoid circuit failure during on-board diagnostic. TCC solenoid circuit fails to provide voltage drop across solenoid. Circuit open or shorted or PCM drive failure during on-board diagnostic. Failed ON - engine runs rough/vehicle shudder, engine stalls in DRIVE (2nd, 3rd or 4th) at low idle speeds. (Short circuit). Failed OFF - converter never engages (Open circuit) (MIL on). GO to PINPOINT TEST C .
P0740 TCC TCC solenoid circuit failure during on-board diagnostic. Intermittent circuit failure. TCC solenoid circuit fails to provide voltage drop across solenoid. Circuit open or shorted or PCM drive failure during on-board diagnostic. Failed ON - engine runs rough/vehicle shudder, engine stalls in DRIVE (2nd, 3rd or 4th) at low idle speeds. (Short circuit). Failed OFF - converter never engages (Open circuit) (MIL on). GO to PINPOINT TEST C .
P1747 (1) EPC EPC solenoid circuit failure, shorted circuit or output driver. Voltage through EPC solenoid is checked and compared to a voltage through solenoid after a time delay. An error will be noted if tolerance is exceeded. KOEO and continuous on-board diagnostics. Short Circuit - Causes failsafe EPC pressure (maximum capacity). Harsh engagements and shifts (MIL on). GO to PINPOINT TEST E .
P0960 PCS PCS open circuit failure. Voltage through EPC solenoid is checked and compared to a voltage through solenoid after a time delay. An error will be noted if tolerance is exceeded. KOEO and continuous on-board diagnostics. Open Circuit - Causes maximum EPC pressure, harsh engagements and shifts (TCIL flashing). GO to PINPOINT TEST E .
P0962 PCS PCS circuit shorted to ground. Voltage through EPC solenoid is checked and compared to a voltage through solenoid after a time delay. An error will be noted if tolerance is exceeded. KOEO and continuous on-board diagnostic. The PCM removes VPWR to the PCS which opens the circuit and provides maximum pressure. GO to PINPOINT TEST E .
P0963 PCS PCS circuit shorted to VPWR. Voltage through EPC solenoid is checked and compared to a voltage through solenoid after a time delay. An error will be noted if tolerance is exceeded. KOEO and continuous on-board diagnostic. The PCM removes VPWR to the PCS which opens the circuit and provides maximum pressure. GO to PINPOINT TEST E .
P1117 ECT ECT sensor or circuit signal intermittent. PCM has detected an intermittent signal. Incorrect EPC pressure, either high or low which will result in harsh or soft shift. See INTRODUCTION - GASOLINE article.
P1700 LOW OWC Transaxle mechanical failure. Failure of the LOW OWC.
NOTE: P1700 may be set by a low fluid level.
No 1st, 2nd and/or reverse gears, code P0731, P0732 also. Refer to DIAGNOSIS BY SYMPTOM .
P1112 IAT IAT sensor or circuit signal intermittent. PCM has detected an intermittent signal. Incorrect EPC pressure, either high or low which will result in harsh or soft shift. See INTRODUCTION - GASOLINE article.
