Chain Cover: Disassembly
- Press tabs and remove the harness.
- Remove the thrust washers.
- Remove the No. 1 drive sprocket thrust washer (7G099).
- Remove the No. 3 chain cover thrust washer (7G096).
- Remove the bolt and the manual valve detent spring.
- Remove the accumulator piston shafts.
- Remove the accumulator pistons.
- Remove the bimetal element and the thermostat plate.
NOTE:
If installation of a new chain cover is necessary, the main control wire harness must be transferred.
CAUTION:
Do not use any objects in the piston shaft bore for removal. Damage to the bore will result.
NOTE:
Tag and mark the location of the accumulator pistons.
CAUTION:
Use care not to damage the machined surface of the chain cover.
NOTE:
The use of side cutters supported by a small piece of wood will aid in the removal of the bimetal retaining collars.
