Pump Assembly: Assembly

    CAUTION: The machined passage surfaces of the pump body must be protected when installing a new bearing.
    CAUTION: Do not press with excessive force when installing a new bearing.
    NOTE: The bearing is correctly installed with its seal facing down.

  1. Position the bearing for installation.
  2. If removed, use the special tool and a suitable press, install the fluid pump body bearing.
    • Install the bearing so the edge of the bearing is flush with the pump bore surface.

  3. NOTE: Be sure the solenoids are locked in place by pressing down and rotating them.

  4. Install new O-ring seals and install the shift solenoids by pressing down and rotating them until they lock in place.
  5. Install new O-ring seals and install the EPC and TCC solenoids.
    • Tighten to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft).

  6. Install the bottom pump vane support ring.

  7. NOTE: The counter bore area is where the pump shaft and mating splines pass through the rotor.

  8. Install the rotor with the counter bore facing up.
  9. NOTE: The shiny portion of the vane blade is installed outward toward the pump bore ring.

  10. Install the pump vanes.
  11. Install the pump body ring with the O-ring groove facing up.

  12. Install the top pump vane support ring.

  13. Install the pump bore ring radial seal and support.
    1. Install the pump bore ring radial seal (orange rectangular).
    2. Install the pump bore ring radial seal support (black round).

  14. Install the metal bore ring and support seal.
    1. Install the support seal (O-ring).
    2. Install the bore ring side seal (metal).

  15. Install the bore ring pivot pin.

  16. CAUTION: Be sure the pump bore area is well cleaned. It is a hidden foreign material trap. Flow from the pump goes into the manual valve circuit, then passes into the EPC circuit. Pump pressure at this point is very high. Any foreign material not cleaned out here will be pumped through the transaxle on the first operation.

  17. Install the pump bore ring spring between the case and the tab on the pump bore ring.
  18. NOTE: Use the pump shaft to align the pump cover during installation.

  19. Install the pump cover and bolts.
    • Tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
  20. Install the B8 check ball.

  21. Install the separator plate and the gaskets.

  22. Install the bolts.
    • Tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).

  23. Using the special tool, assemble the main control assembly.

  24. Install the bolts.
    • Tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
