Spark Plugs: Installation

  1. Adjust the spark plug gap as necessary.

  2. CAUTION: Only use hand tools when removing or installing the spark plugs, or damage can occur to the cylinder head or spark plug.
  3. Install the 6 spark plugs.
    • Tighten to 15 Nm (11 lb-ft).
  4. Apply dielectric grease to the inside of the spark plug wire boots before attaching to the spark plugs.
  5. CAUTION: Spark plug wires must be connected to the correct spark plug.
    CAUTION: Make sure the spark plug boots are positioned so the spark plug wires do not contact the exhaust manifold.
  6. Connect the 6 spark plug wires to the spark plugs.
  7. Install the cowl lower panel and the bolts.
    • Tighten to 6 Nm (53 lb-in).

  8. Connect the windshield wiper motor electrical connector.
  9. Install the cowl panel grille. For additional information, refer to FRONT END BODY PANELS .

  10. Connect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
