  1. Using a suitable floor crane, position the engine assembly into the vehicle.
  2. Remove the special tool.

    CAUTION: Only use hand tools when installing the engine support insulator through bolt or damage to the engine support insulator-to-cylinder block bracket can occur.
    NOTE: LH shown, RH similar.
  4. Install the LH and RH engine support insulator bolts.
    • Apply threadlock to the bolt threads prior to installation.
    • Tighten to 350 Nm (258 lb-ft).

    NOTE: Align the engine-to-transmission dowels before installing the engine-to-transmission bolts.
  6. Install the lower 5 transmission-to-engine bolts.
    • Tighten to 48 Nm (35 lb-ft).

  8. Install the 4 exhaust manifold-to-catalytic converter nuts.
    • Tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).

  10. Connect the heated exhaust gas oxygen sensor (HO2S) electrical connectors.

  12. Install new torque converter-to-flexplate nuts.
    • Tighten to 35 Nm (26 lb-ft).

  14. Install the cylinder block opening cover.

  16. Install the flexplate inspection cover and the 2 bolts.
    • Tighten to 35 Nm (26 lb-ft).

  18. Install the upper 2 transmission-to-engine bolts.
    • Tighten to 48 Nm (35 lb-ft).

  20. Position the starter wiring harness and transmission fluid cooler tube support brackets and install the nut.
    • Tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).

  22. Connect the starter wiring harness retainer.

  24. Install a new oil filter.
    • Tighten to 15 Nm (11 lb-ft).

  26. Position the power steering pump and install the stud bolt and the 2 bolts.
    • Tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).

  28. Connect the wiring harness position retainer to the power steering pump stud bolt.

  30. Connect the wiring harness position retainer and the engine oil pressure (EOP) switch electrical connector.

  32. Install the power steering pump support bracket and the nut.
    • Tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).

  34. If equipped, connect the block heater wiring harness retainers.

  36. If equipped, connect the block heater electrical connector.

  38. Position the A/C compressor and install the 3 stud bolts.
    • Tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).

  40. Connect the wiring harness position retainer and the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor and A/C compressor electrical connectors.

  42. Install the clip and connect the degas bottle coolant outlet hose quick connect coupling.

  44. Position the ground cable and install the bolt.
    • Tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).

  46. Position the 2 heater coolant hoses and connect the quick connect couplings.

  48. Connect the heater coolant hose quick connect coupling.

  50. If equipped, connect the 2 auxiliary heat coolant hose quick connect couplings.

  52. Connect the PCM electrical connector.

  54. Connect the wiring harness retainer and ground cable and install the nut.
    • Tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).

  56. Install the accessory drive belt.
  57. Install the bypass tube. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING article.
  58. Install the cooling module. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING article.
  59. If servicing the engine on a four wheel drive (4WD) vehicle, install the front drive shaft. For additional information, refer to DRIVESHAFT article.
  60. Install the starter. For additional information, refer to STARTING SYSTEM article.
  61. Install the hood.
  62. Fill the crankcase with clean engine oil.
  63. Fill and bleed the engine cooling system. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING article.
  64. Fill and bleed the power steering system. For additional information, refer to STEERING SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION article.
