Disassembly And Assembly Of Subassemblies: Piston: Disassembly

NOTE: Use a suitable ring expander to remove piston rings to prevent damage.

Remove the piston rings one at a time starting with the top compression ring and finishing with the lower oil control ring.
- Discard the piston rings.

NOTE: Take note of piston connecting rod assembly and mark the piston and the connecting rod to make sure of correct orientation during reassembly.

Using the special tool, press the piston pin out of the piston and connecting rod assembly.

Remove the connecting rod from the piston .
Clean and inspect the piston and the connecting rod. For additional information, refer to ENGINE SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION article.
