Transfer Case Fluid Level Check

Materials 

Check 

1. Follow the health and safety precautions. REFER to: Health and Safety Precautions .
2. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. REFER to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
3. If equipped. Remove the retainers and the underbody shield.

4. Remove the PTU (Power Transfer Unit) fill plug.

5. Fill the PTU with clean fluid, level with the fill plug opening.

   Material

   : Motorcraft® SAE 75W-140 Synthetic Rear Axle Lubricant / XY-75W140-QL (WSL-M2C192-A)

6. Install the PTU fill plug.

   Torque

   : 33 lb.ft (45 Nm)

7. If equipped. Install the underbody shield.
