Axle Ratio Identification: Jeep

On "CJ" and Scrambler models, the front axle code number is cast into bottom surface of housing. On all other models the front axle code number is cast into upper surface of reinforcing rib at left side of axle housing. A gear ratio tag is attached to left side of axle housing cover on front axles. On "CJ", Scrambler, Cherokee, Wagoneer and "J10" truck models, rear axle ratio code letter is located on axle housing tube boss, adjacent to dowel hole. On "J20" truck models, rear axle model number is cast into boss on lower right side of axle housing, adjacent to housing cover.
