Towing (Recreational)

  1. The "S" series 4WD vehicles may be towed on all four wheels provided the automatic transmission is in Park or the manual transmission is in the highest gear. Place transfer case in Neutral. It is not necessary to remove the drive shaft.
  2. If 4WD vehicles (except "S" series) are to be towed with all wheels on the ground, place transfer case in "2H" position and transmission in Neutral. Tow at speeds below 35 MPH and no further than 50 miles.
  3. For speeds and distances greater than specified, disconnect rear drive shaft at rear axle carrier. Secure drive shaft to underside of vehicle. Tape "U" joint bearing journal caps. Remove front drive shaft. Store it in vehicle.
