Charge Indicator Light Never On
- Disconnect generator connector. Using jumper wire, connect generator harness connector Red wire terminal to ground. Turn ignition on. If charge indicator light illuminates, go to next step. If charge indicator light does not illuminate, go to step 4).
- Using fused jumper wire connected to ground, backprobe instrument cluster connector terminal A6 (Red wire). If charge indicator light illuminates, go to step 5). If charge indicator light does not illuminate, go to next step.
- Disconnect instrument cluster connector. Using DVOM, check voltage between instrument cluster harness connector terminal A10 (Brown wire) and ground. If voltage is 12 volts or more, go to step 6). If voltage is less than 12 volts, go to step 7).
- Replace generator. See GENERATOR under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Recheck system.
- Repair open in Red wire between instrument cluster and generator. Recheck system.
- Replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT PANELS article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT. Recheck system.
- Repair open in Orange wire between instrument cluster and instrument panel fuse block. Recheck system.
