Starter Draw Test (Diesel)

  1. Disable fuel system. Disconnect fuel injection pump fuel shut off solenoid connector, located on engine, in front of throttle body.
  2. Connect ammeter to negative battery cable. Crank engine and observe ammeter readings. If readings are more than 360 amps, repair or replace starter assembly. If readings are less than 300 amps, repair or replace battery cable or connections.
