Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes
CAUTION:
Manufacturer does not recommend clearing DTCs by disconnecting batteries, or removing power from PCM. Additional vehicle system memory information or presets may be lost.
NOTE:
Do not clear DTCs until directed by a diagnostic procedure. Before clearing DTCs, record FREEZE FRAME and FAILURE RECORDS for reference during testing. When DTCs are cleared, freeze frame data which could be used for intermittent fault diagnosis, will also be erased from memory.
To clear DTCs using scan tool, select CLEAR DTCs or CLEAR INFORMATION function. Follow scan tool manufacturer's instructions. If DTCs are not cleared with scan tool, PCM will clear stored DTCs if fault causing DTCs to set is not detected for 40 consecutive warm-up cycles.
