Installation Procedure

  1. Install the automatic transmission shift lock control actuator onto the steering column jacket assembly.
  2. Connect the electrical connector.

  3. Adjust the electrical automatic transmission shift lock control actuator.
    1. 3.1. Pull out the tab (1) on the adjuster block side (2) of the electrical automatic transmission shift lock control actuator.
    2. 3.2. Press on the adjuster block (2) to disengage the adjuster teeth. Slide the adjuster block (2) as far away from the actuator as possible.
    3. 3.3. Lock the adjuster block in place by pushing inward on the tab (1).
  4. Inspect the electrical automatic transmission shift lock control actuator for the following items:
    1. 4.1. The electrical automatic transmission shift lock control actuator must lock the shift lever clevis when the shift lever clevis is put into the PARK position.
    2. 4.2. Turn the ignition to the ON position and depress the brake pedal in order to move the gear shift lever out of the PARK position. The actuator will be energized.
    3. 4.3. Readjust the electrical automatic transmission shift lock control actuator if needed.
    4. 4.4. Install the knee bolster.
