Installation Procedure

  1. Install the seat belt retractor assembly to the vehicle.
    NOTE: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
  2. Fig 1: Seat Belt Retractor Assembly

  3. Install the bolt that retains the seat belt retractor assembly to the vehicle.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the seat belt retractor assembly bolt to 70 N.m (52 lb ft).

  4. Guide the seat belt through the opening in the body side trim cover.

  6. Install the body side trim panel. Refer to TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT - BODY SIDE (STANDARD CAB PICKUP) or TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT - BODY SIDE (EXTENDED CAB PICKUP) or TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT - BODY SIDE (2-DOOR UT or TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT - BODY SIDE (4-DOOR UT or TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT - BODY SIDE (CREW CAB) in Interior Trim.
  7. Install the seat belt opening trim cover by firmly pressing the cover into place.
  8. Install the upper seat belt anchor plate and bolt to the vehicle.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the upper seat belt anchor plate bolt to 70 N.m (52 lb ft).

  10. Close the upper seat belt anchor plate cover.
  11. Install the lower seat belt anchor plate and bolt to the vehicle.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the lower seat belt anchor plate bolt to 70 N.m (52 lb ft).
