Starter Motor: Removal

  1. Disconnect the negative battery negative cable. Raise and support the vehicle. Remove the differential carrier shield mounting bolts, if equipped. See Fig 1. Remove the differential carrier shield, if equipped.
  2. Remove the starter mounting bolts. Disconnect the wires from the solenoid. Remove the starter from the vehicle. Note the location of the shims, if equipped.
