Installation Procedure

  1. Install the power steering pump.
    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.
  2. Install the power steering pump front mounting bolts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the power steering pump front mounting bolts to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).

  3. Install the power steering pump rear mounting bracket bolt.
  4. Install the power steering pump rear mounting bracket nuts to the engine studs.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the power steering pump rear mounting bracket bolt and nuts to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).

  5. Install the A/C compressor to the accessory bracket.
  6. Install the A/C compressor rear bracket mounting bolts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the A/C compressor rear bracket mounting bolts to 31 N.m (23 lb ft).

  7. Install the A/C compressor mounting bolts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the A/C compressor mounting bolts to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).

  8. Connect the A/C compressor electrical connection.
  9. Install the power steering pump pulley. Refer to POWER STEERING PULLEY REPLACEMENT .
  10. Install the drive belt. Refer to DRIVE BELT REPLACEMENT in Engine Mechanical 2.2L.

  11. Install the power steering pump hoses.
  12. Install the upper fan shroud. Refer to FAN SHROUD REPLACEMENT in Engine Cooling.
  13. Fill the power steering system.
  14. Bleed the system. Refer to BLEEDING THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM .
  15. Inspect the hoses for clearance away from the frame and other components.
