Fuel Tank Draining Procedure (2-Door Utility)

CAUTION: Gasoline or gasoline vapors are highly flammable. A fire could occur if an ignition source is present. Never drain or store gasoline or diesel fuel in an open container, due to the possibility of fire or explosion. Have a dry chemical (Class B) fire extinguisher nearby.
    CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notices.
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the fuel filler cap.
  3. Disconnect the fuel fill hose from the fuel tank (4-door utility only). Refer to Filler Tube Replacement (2-Door Utility)  or Filler Tube Replacement (4-Door Utility Lower) .
  4. Use a hand operated pump device in order to remove the fuel through the fuel filler pipe (2-door utility), or through the fuel tank fill pipe nipple (4-door utility).
