Replace and Program Control Module

NOTE:

When replacing the entire steering gear, follow the steps for Reprogram Control Module.

To program a replacement power steering control module, perform the following procedure:

  1. Ignition ON.
  2. Access the Service Programming System (SPS) and follow the on-screen instructions.
  3. On the SPS Supported Controllers screen, select K43 Power Steering Control Module - Programming and follow the on-screen instructions.
  4. At the end of programming, choose the "Clear All DTCs" function on the SPS screen.
  5. NOTE:

    K43 Power Steering Control Module - Setup reads the torque sensor signal, which is part of the steering gear, and stores it in the control module without any external torque influences. Ensure Torque Sensor Harness is connected and the tie rod ends and steering intermediate shaft are disconnected before performing this step.

  6. On the SPS Supported Controllers screen, select K43 Power Steering Control Module - Setup and follow the on-screen instructions.
  7. With a scan tool, Clear All DTCs.
