Steering Linkage Inner Tie Rod Replacement

Preliminary Procedure Remove and install the appropriate steering gear boot. Steering Gear Boot Replacement - Left Side Steering Gear Boot Replacement - Right Side
1	Steering Linkage Inner Tie Rod CAUTION: Refer to Component Fastener Tightening Caution . CAUTION: Holding the steering gear rack bar with anything other than a non-serrated adjustable wrench will cause damage to the steering gear Procedure Cover the steering gear rack bar with a clean shop towel. Hold the steering gear rack bar with a non-serrated adjustable wrench. Rotate the steering linkage inner tie rod housing counterclockwise to remove the tie rod. Rotate the steering linkage inner tie rod housing clockwise to install the tie rod. Measure and adjust the front toe. Wheel Alignment - Steering Wheel Angle and/or Front Toe Adjustment Tighten 105 N.m (77 lb-ft)

Holding the steering gear rack bar with anything other than a non-serrated adjustable wrench will cause damage to the steering gear

Procedure

Cover the steering gear rack bar with a clean shop towel.
Hold the steering gear rack bar with a non-serrated adjustable wrench.
Rotate the steering linkage inner tie rod housing counterclockwise to remove the tie rod.
Rotate the steering linkage inner tie rod housing clockwise to install the tie rod.
Measure and adjust the front toe. Wheel Alignment - Steering Wheel Angle and/or Front Toe Adjustment

Tighten
105 N.m (77 lb-ft)
