Transfer Case Assembly: Removal
CAUTION:
In case of replacing the controller (ECU) and transfer case due to changing characteristics of the frictional materials inside the transfer case, it is necessary to check and enter the calibration data.

CAUTION:
Cautions in handling the transfer case
Preventing the oil leaking
Preventing the oil leaking
- Even with the air breather valve installed, oil leaks from the collected oil during disassembling/assembling procedures in case of failure of keeping the horizontal position. Therefore, use caution when replacing the transmission.
- Turn ignition switch OFF and disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
- Remove the under cover.
(Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "ENGINE ROOM UNDER COVER ")
- Remove the rear propeller shaft.
(Refer to Driveshaft and axle - "PROPELLER SHAFT ")
- Loosen the bolts (A, B) and then removing the transmission bracket (C).
- Disconnect the hydraulic motor (A) and the oil pressure sensor connector (B).
- Loosen the bolt and then separate the ground line (A).
- Loosen the bolt and then separate the wiring bracket (A).
- Loosen the transfer case upper mounting bolts (A) and the lower mounting bolts (B) and then removing the transfer case assembly (C).
Tightening torque:
29.4 - 41.2 N.m (3.0 - 4.2 kgf.m, 21.7 - 30.4 lb-ft)
CAUTION:- Support the transmission valve body cover bottom side with using a jack.
- Remove the front propeller shaft (A).
