Code 22, Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) Circuit (A/T Only): Notes

SIGNAL VOLTAGE LOW

TPS provides a voltage signal that changes relative to throttle opening. Signal voltage varies from .5 volt at idle to approximately 5 volts at wide open throttle. TPS signal is an important input used by the ECM for fuel control and most ECM controlled outputs.

NOTE: Test numbers refer to test numbers on diagnostic chart.
  1. Code 22 will set if engine is running and TPS signal voltage is less than .1 volt for .7 second.
  2. This simulates a Code 21 (high voltage). If the ECM sees the high signal voltage, the ECM and wiring are okay.
  3. This checks for reference voltage from the ECM.
