Mechanical Advance

Remove distributor cap and turn rotor clockwise. Release rotor and observe movement. Rotation should be smooth with complete return to the full rest position. If mechanical advance performance is incorrect, check distributor weights, springs and "E" rings for binding. If mechanical advance system is okay but performance is incorrect, replace distributor.
