Retrieving Codes

  1. Ensure battery has a minimum of 11 volts. Always use a digital type test meter. Never connect or disconnect ECM wiring harness connector when ignition switch is in the "ON" position.
  2. When performing diagnostic procedures, DO NOT apply meter probes to ECM unless wiring harness connector is attached. Checks are made from the rear side of the ECM wiring harness connector.
  3. When performing terminal checks, ensure that negative probe is grounded to vehicle body. Before checking for trouble codes, perform diagnostic circuit check. This will ensure on-vehicle diagnostics is working. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC CIRCUIT CHECK chart.
  4. Insert spare fuse into "Diagnosis Switch Terminal", located in passenger compartment fuse block. Proceed to CODE CHARTS for diagnosing stored codes.
