Engine Stalls: Carbureted
- Check carburetor choke vacuum source.
- Ensure correct choke adjustment and linkage operation.
- Verify hot air tube is connected to air cleaner.
- Ensure fuel level is at specified mark on carburetor sight glass.
- If vehicle stalls only when A/C is on, ensure ECM terminal "J" has battery voltage when A/C is operating.
- Ensure A/C system is not overcharged.
- Check idle control operation.
- Check idle mixture adjustment.
- Check accelerator pump operation.
- Ensure there are no vacuum leaks.
- Check PCV operation by clamping hose shut. If problem discontinues, replace PCV valve.
- Check EGR system and ensure valve closes completely.
- Check Early Fuel Evaporation (EFE) operation.
- Check throttle position sensor adjustment.
- Check coolant temperature sensor operation.
- Check for overheating problems.
- Check for poor quality or contaminated fuel. Check for use of fuel with high alcohol content.
