Code 41, Throttle Position Sensor Open Or Shorted Circuit VIN 5): Notes
The Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) provides a voltage signal that changes relative to throttle valve angle. Signal voltage varies from less than .60 volt at idle to about 4.5 volts at Wide Open Throttle (WOT).
The TPS provides the ECM with information used to decide closed Loop operation and indicates the off-idle condition to the ECM. The TPS is normally closed at idle and opens when engine speed is greater than 1800 RPM, which is then the off-idle condition. TPS information is used by the ECM for fuel control and many other ECM controlled outputs.
NOTE:
Test numbers refer to test numbers on diagnostic chart.
- Voltage should be less than .6 volt at idle.
- Voltage should increase to greater than 4.5 volts at WOT.
