Power Steering Pressure Switch
- Power steering pressure switch is located on power steering pump. Remove electrical connector from pressure switch. With ignition on and engine stopped, check voltage between switch and Blue/Orange wire.
- Reading should be near battery voltage. If voltage was okay, proceed to step 4). If voltage was not correct, check voltage from Blue/Orange wire to ground. If approximate battery voltage exists, check for loss of ground at switch and power steering pump. If ground was okay, replace switch assembly. If ground was defective, repair ground.
- If no voltage is present, disconnect Yellow ECM connector. The ECM is located under left side of instrument panel near kick panel. Check for open or short to ground in Blue/Orange wire. If wiring is okay, check for ECM voltage supply at G1 and G7 terminals, faulty ECM connector or ECM.
- If near battery voltage was present, use ohmmeter and check resistance between switch terminal and pump housing. Resistance should be high to indicate that switch is open.
- If resistance is not high (closed switch), replace switch assembly. If resistance is high, start and allow engine to idle. Turn steering wheel and hold momentarily against the stop. Ohmmeter should indicate low resistance (switch closed).
- If low resistance was not present, replace switch assembly. If low resistance was present, reconnect wire on switch assembly. Recheck system operation.
