Control Relay

  1. Control relay is located under left side of instrument panel near kick panel and fuse block and contains a 6-pin and 4-pin connector. Disconnect relay connectors. Using an ohmmeter, place positive test lead of ohmmeter on relay terminal "B" and negative test lead of ohmmeter on relay terminal "D". See Fig 1 . Ensure continuity is present.
  2. Place positive test lead of ohmmeter on relay terminal "D" and negative test lead of ohmmeter on relay terminal "B". If continuity is present, replace relay.
  3. Check continuity between terminals "I" and "F", and then between "J" and "H". If continuity is not present, replace relay.
  4. Energize relay by applying battery voltage to terminal "B" and ground to terminal "D". Check for voltage at terminals "C" and "E". If battery voltage does not exist, replace control relay.
  5. Energize relay by applying battery voltage to terminal "F" and ground to terminal "I". Check for voltage at terminal "G". If battery voltage does not exist, replace control relay.
  6. Energize relay by applying battery voltage to terminal "H" and ground to terminal "J". Check for voltage at terminal "G". If battery voltage does not exist, replace control relay.
